Dear McGill Law student community,
The LSA Executive Council was taken by surprise this morning by AMPL’s announcement to suspend the strike through an offer extended to the University. We did not receive prior notice, and their communication lacks essential details, which we immediately sought to clarify.
Their publication is misleading: AMPL has given McGill until Sunday at noon to accept their proposal. If McGill does not agree, the strike will resume on Monday. The offer is similar to the offer McGill initially refused which put the strike into motion August 26.
Crucially, there is no return-to-work agreement in place between AMPL and McGill. The LSA was consulted today on potential procedures, but there is currently no concrete plan for the resumption of classes tomorrow.
LSA President
